The "Making Home Affordable" program is a part of President Obama's plan to help put the housing market back on track.  Through the program, up to 9 million American families may be eligible to refinance or modify their loans to a payment that is more affordable now and continuing into the future. 

This will allow certain homeowners to refinance their home without Mortgage Insurance, even if their current loan balance exceeds the value of the home.
